Dumb Goal vs Smart Goal

If you hold a leadership position, you’re probably familiar with Smart Goals, but have you ever considered the concept of a Dumb Goal?

Chances are you haven’t.

*Afterward, I google and found out people actually use “Dumb Goal” for many weird acronyms. I have a different take on it.

Let’s delve into the idea of a Dumb Goal: it’s like climbing the ladder of success only to realize it is leaning against the wrong wall.

As the Teacher in Ecclesiastes says, “Everything is meaningless, completely meaningless! What do people gain from all their labours at which they toil under the sun? Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2-4 NLT)

You could spend your life constructing an empire, but if your intentions are misguided, it’s akin to building on a foundation of sand.

In a world where things come and go, what truly matters and endures are Faith, Hope, and Love. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT)

Don’t waste your time building an empire on a foundation of sand. That would indeed be a dumb goal.

Lead with Love,

Gab
