A few years ago there was study done where the amount of pain that the average person can endure was measured. Participants placed their feet in ice water and were left alone. Then the experiment was repeated, however this time they brought in someone that would support them through the pain. Across the board, the participants were suddenly able to endure 100% longer. What’s going on here? Why did this happen? Did their ability change? ….No, it was their Attitude!
Common sense tells me that you already know what you need to do in order to become successful, however if common sense were common practice, I wouldn’t have a job. Let me give you an example. We all know how to get in great shape if we think about it…calories in, calories out and exercise daily, right? So how come every single year there are millions of people that start a New Year’s resolution just to fail in less than 15 days? Were they unable to achieve it? Of course they were! So what happened?
90% of what we don’t accomplish is because we don’t believe we can. Attitude is what holds you back from the success that you really want, not abilities.
Wayne Gretzky (Perhaps the greatest hockey player to ever play the sport) says, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
There are no limitations to your potential. Changing your attitude to reflect this belief takes time and effort, but you are capable. Have you ever noticed that when you have someone supporting you in your corner you suddenly are capable of so much more? Interesting isn’t it? That’s because your attitude is different when you have someone you respect that believes in you. Imagine if you believed in your own abilities this way, consistently.
Here is the best place to start. As you go through the day remind yourself of this quote:
“Success begins as an attitude before it becomes an actuality”
If you constantly remind yourself of this, and live with Paul J. Meyer’s philosophy; “Never give mental recognition to the possibility of defeat!” You'll be amazed suddenly by all of the amazing opportunities that you begin to see in front of you.
Napoleon Hill always said, “If you believe it, you can achieve it!”
This is your attitude talking…Now go out and make it a successful day!!
